Affiliate Agreement

How commissions work, attribution rules, and what you must disclose when promoting Lesso.

Last updated: March 2026

1. Overview

The Lesso affiliate programme lets you earn recurring commission by referring course creators to the platform. This agreement governs your participation. You are an independent contractor — not an employee or agent of Lesso.

2. Commission Structure

2.1 How It's Calculated

You earn 50% of Lesso's net platform revenue from each creator you refer, for the lifetime of that creator's active account.

Lesso's net revenue = Gross subscription revenue × 15% (platform fee) − Stripe processing fees (approx. 3.4% + 30p per transaction).

Worked example:

A creator you referred has 50 subscribers paying $29/month.

Gross revenue: $1,450/month

Lesso's gross platform fee (15%): $217.50

Stripe fees (approx. 3.4% + $0.30 × 50): $64.30

Lesso's net: $217.50 − $64.30 = $153.20

Your commission (50% of net): ~$76.60/month from this one creator alone.

Note: actual amounts vary with subscription price and subscriber count. This is an illustrative example.

2.2 Lifetime Definition

"Lifetime" means commission is paid for as long as the referred creator maintains an active account. A creator is considered active if they have at least one published course that has generated revenue within the preceding 90 days.

If a creator goes inactive for 90+ consecutive days, commission pauses. It resumes automatically if the creator reactivates and generates revenue again.

2.3 Payout Terms

  • Calculated monthly, paid within 30 days of month end (net-30).
  • Minimum threshold: $50. Balances below $50 roll over.
  • Paid manually via Stripe to your nominated bank account.

3. Attribution

3.1 How It Works

When someone clicks your unique referral link (lesso.app/?ref=YOUR_ID), a 90-day attribution window begins. If that person signs up as a creator within that window and publishes a course, they are attributed to you.

3.2 First-Touch

Attribution is first-touch. If multiple affiliates refer the same creator, the first referral link clicked is credited. Subsequent clicks do not override the original attribution.

3.3 Self-Referrals

You may not earn commission by referring yourself. Any self-referral will be disqualified.

4. ASA/CAP Compliance (Required by UK Law)

This section is mandatory. Non-compliance is grounds for immediate account termination.

UK advertising regulations (ASA/CAP) require that you clearly and prominently disclose your commercial relationship with Lesso whenever you promote the platform or your referral link.

4.1 When Disclosure Is Required

Any time you share your referral link or promote Lesso in exchange for potential commission — on social media, in blog posts, videos, emails, podcasts, or any other medium.

4.2 How to Disclose

Use clear, unambiguous language. The disclosure must be prominent and placed before the referral link, not buried in small print. Acceptable examples:

"I earn a commission if you sign up through this link."

"Affiliate link — I may earn from qualifying sign-ups."

"#ad" or "#affiliate" (social media — must be at the start of the post, not buried)

5. Prohibited Methods

The following are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate termination and forfeiture of unpaid commissions:

  • Spam email or unsolicited bulk messaging.
  • Misleading or exaggerated earnings claims (e.g. "Earn $10,000/month guaranteed!").
  • Impersonating Lesso or its staff.
  • Bidding on "Lesso" or related brand terms in paid advertising.
  • Cookie stuffing or any form of fraudulent attribution.
  • Incentivised sign-ups — paying or rewarding people to sign up as creators who do not intend to create courses.
  • Failing to disclose your affiliate relationship as required by ASA/CAP guidelines.

6. Fraud

If we determine that referrals were obtained through fraudulent means — including fake accounts, misleading advertising, or incentivised sign-ups — we will terminate your account immediately and forfeit all unpaid commissions. We actively monitor referral patterns for fraud indicators.

7. Tax

You are solely responsible for declaring and paying all taxes due on your affiliate earnings. Commission payments to UK-based affiliates may be subject to Income Tax and National Insurance. We recommend consulting an accountant.

8. Programme Modifications

We reserve the right to modify commission rates, attribution windows, payout thresholds, or any other aspect of this programme at any time, subject to the following:

8.1 Notice period

We will provide at least 30 days' written notice (via email to your registered address) before any change to commission rates takes effect.

8.2 Scope of changes

Changes apply to new referrals made on or after the effective date. Commission rates on referrals attributed before the effective date remain at the rate in force at the time of attribution for a further 12 months, after which the updated rate applies.

8.3 Your right to exit

If you do not accept a notified change, you may terminate your participation before the effective date with no penalty. Earned commission above the payout threshold at the time of termination will be paid in the following payout cycle.

Continued participation in the programme after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

9. Termination

Either party may terminate the affiliate relationship at any time. On termination, commission on existing referred creators stops accruing. Any earned commission above the minimum threshold will be paid in the following payout cycle.
