Creator Agreement

The full terms governing course creators on Lesso, including payout terms, content standards, and your rights.

1. Overview

This Creator Agreement supplements our Terms of Service and governs your activity as a course creator on Lesso. By publishing a course, you agree to these terms.

You are an independent contractor. Nothing in this agreement creates an employment, partnership, or agency relationship between you and Lesso.

2. Revenue Share

2.1 Split

For each subscription payment received for your course(s):

You receive 85% of gross subscription revenue.
Lesso retains 15% as a platform fee, from which we cover payment processing fees (Stripe charges approximately 3.4% + 30p per transaction), affiliate commissions, and platform operating costs.

Example: A subscriber pays $29/month for your course. You receive $24.65. Lesso retains $4.35, from which Stripe fees (~$1.29), affiliate commission (if applicable), and operating costs are covered.

2.2 Payout Schedule

Earnings are calculated at the end of each calendar month.
Payouts are processed within 30 days of the month end (net-30).
Minimum payout threshold: $50. Balances below $50 roll over to the following month.
Payouts are made manually via Stripe to your nominated bank account.

2.3 Payout Details

To receive payouts, you must provide valid UK bank details (sort code and account number) or international IBAN/SWIFT details. We store this information securely and use it solely for processing your payouts.

2.4 Fraud and Withholding

We reserve the right to withhold payouts if we suspect fraudulent activity, pending investigation. If fraud is confirmed, we may terminate your account and forfeit unpaid earnings.

3. Tax Obligations

You are solely responsible for declaring and paying all taxes due on your earnings, including Income Tax, National Insurance, and VAT if applicable. You may be required to provide a UK UTR number or equivalent documentation. We may be required to report your earnings to HMRC.

We strongly recommend consulting an accountant regarding your tax obligations.

4. Content Licence

4.1 Your Ownership

You retain full intellectual property ownership of all content you create and publish on Lesso.

4.2 Licence to Lesso

By publishing content on Lesso, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to: host, store, display, and distribute your content to your subscribers; reproduce excerpts of your content for platform marketing and promotional purposes (e.g. course previews, social media); and sub-licence these rights to service providers operating on our behalf.

This licence is non-exclusive — you may publish the same content elsewhere.

4.3 Marketing Use

We may use screenshots, excerpts, and descriptions of your course for marketing purposes. We will not use your content in a way that misrepresents it or damages your reputation.

5. Content Standards

You must not publish content that:

Infringes third-party intellectual property rights or is plagiarised.
Makes false or misleading claims.
Is illegal, defamatory, or harassing.
Contains malware or malicious links.
Discloses the personal data of third parties without their consent.

We reserve the right to remove content that violates these standards without notice. Repeated or serious violations may result in account termination.

6. Data and Learner Privacy

You must not use personal data about learners obtained through the platform (including email addresses, discussion posts, or subscription details) for any purpose outside the platform. You must not contact learners directly using data obtained through Lesso without their explicit consent.

7. Termination

7.1 By You

You may terminate this agreement at any time by closing your account. Please provide 30 days' written notice to hello@lesso.app to allow us to manage existing subscriber access.

7.2 By Lesso

We may terminate your account immediately for serious breaches (fraud, illegal content). For other breaches, we will provide written notice and a reasonable opportunity to remedy the issue.

7.3 Effect of Termination

On termination, existing subscribers retain access to your content until the end of their current billing period. After that, access is revoked. You may request full deletion of your content after all subscriber access has expired. Outstanding earnings owed to you at the time of termination will be paid in the normal payout cycle, subject to the fraud clause above.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Lesso harmless from any claims, damages, or costs arising from: your content (including intellectual property infringement claims); your breach of these terms; or your negligence or misconduct.
